Hermès' 8-year price-rise pattern is more predictable than Chanel's. But 2026 China headwinds suggest the smallest hike in a decade.

This is Hermès' first back-to-back two-year freeze on the Birkin 25 Togo in 10 years. The detail is rarely mentioned in Western coverage because most reporting tracks Chanel.
Why Hermès Is Holding
Three reasons. ① China softness — Hermès' 2025 mainland China revenue was down 5%, and a price hike would push more buyers to secondary markets, widening the new-vs-used inversion. ② Birkin secondary prices fell 8% in 2025; another retail hike would crush dealer inventory. ③ Hermès raised Kelly (+2-3%) and SLG products in 2025; the deliberate Birkin-line stability is a market-stabilization signal.
2026-2027 Outlook
Most likely: a 2-4% hike on Birkin 25 in early 2027 (back to historical norms). Less likely: another freeze in 2027 if China revenue declines deepen. Selective hikes on SLG and Kelly will continue at 3-5%.
