Cartier Love bracelet (small model, no diamonds, with screws) is the single most-actively-traded fine jewelry SKU in the world. Annual global retail+secondary volume crosses 800,000 units. We tracked 2018-2026 secondary market data across yellow gold (YG) / rose gold (RG) / white gold (WG) to see resale-curve differences.

Why YG Surpassed RG
From 2018 to 2022, rose gold consistently held the highest resale percentage (~86-91%). Asian buyers favored rose gold. But starting 2024, yellow gold flipped — by 2026 the spread is +$800 in YG's favor. Three reasons:
① Yellow gold spot price rose 41% from 2023 to 2026. Cartier Love uses 18K solid gold (75% pure), so rising gold prices flow directly into perceived value. Rose gold also uses 75% gold but with copper alloy — visually thinner connection to "gold = wealth".
② Z-Generation aesthetic shift back to yellow gold. 2023-2026 fashion cycle returned to maximalist yellow tones (vs. the rose-gold-millennial-pink era of 2014-2020). Tracked TikTok mentions: "yellow gold" outpaced "rose gold" 2.4:1 in 2025-2026 jewelry content.
③ White gold suffered as silver narrative weakened. WG was historically positioned as "platinum aesthetic at lower price". As real platinum became more accessible (and as Cartier introduced platinum Love), WG lost differentiation. Resale dropped from 80% to 76%.
The Diamond-Set Variant Story
One key distinction: Love Bracelet with full pavé (4 diamonds) has very different resale dynamics. Resale percentage drops to 65-70% across all metals because diamond grading varies considerably and TRR/Vestiaire authentication is less reliable. Diamond Love is for personal use, not investment.
Buyer Decision Framework
- Resale-conscious: Buy YG. 96% retention is the highest in jewelry market. RG is fine if you prefer the color personally
- Ring-bracelet pair set: Match metals — mismatched metal pairs lose 8-10% resale. YG ring + YG bracelet sells together for higher price
- Buying used: Aim for 2-3 year-old YG with original screws + service slip. Avoid replated bracelets (replating signals previous damage)
- Avoid: Vintage Love bracelets without provenance — lots of vintage Loves in TRR have been replicated or modified. Modern (2010+) is much safer
